The Baldwin Ledger, 28 Dec. 1900

The Board of Trustees of the M. E. church opened the bids for the erection of the new church on last Friday afternoon. J. W. Spurgeon's bid was the lowest, $14,100 and he was awarded the contract.. There were three other bids ranging from $400 to $1,000 higher.

The Trustees have not decided when the excavation will be begun but probably not until freezing weather is over with. It is highly gratifying to all the people to know that this much needed enterprise is soon to be begun.
